Circular recycling: Pulp non fiction

The similarly named film by Tarantino ranks number 9 in the film top-10 and is an ode to the pulp magazines; for many, full of iconic scenes, sharp dialogues, and legendary characters. In the top-10 of the R-ladder, we find at number 9: Recover. That’s quite low, but still, special things can happen there too.

“They call it waste. We call it fuel.” — it could almost have been a line in the film, with of course a nod to the “Royale with Cheese” remark. In the case of Logicall, this refers to unusable, damaged pallets or waste, in other words. But is it really?

Innovative waste processing

Halfway through this year, we invested in a wood shredder. Because instead of the incinerator, we found a new leading role in the Green Energy Plant of Meerlanden; an innovative waste processor with the mission: Smarter Circular Together.

In this new scenario, the shredded wood pulp is collected and converted into biogas. The plot twist is not only lower costs, but also the complete reduction of CO2 to zero.
For Logicall, yes. Not for Meerlanden, but there’s another twist there: “their” CO2 goes to the nearby greenhouse horticulture, just like the generated heat goes to greenhouses, and ultra-clean and certified compost to fields and our own gardens.

Circularity

About 60% of their trucks run on the biogas, which prevents the use of fossil fuels. Circularity is often a buzzword that disappears as quickly as it pops up. But this time we’ve found a dialogue that not only sticks but also generates energy; literally, pure non-fiction.
Don’t get me wrong, if the pallet (in this case) remained a tree, we’d be at the top of the “Ladder.”

Here too, it applies: our focus and the steps we take are not loose scenes, but a positive character development in a story that gains more depth and direction.
